Recovery from MicroBrewery WasteWater.
The device which the company calls a vertical wetland, is
intended to process just 2,000 L of microbrewery wastewater
into liquid fertilizer each day. The technology can be scaled up by adding modules.
Device is a 3-cubic meter, treelike structure that uses microbial fuel cells to pump wastewater to its crown. Plants & microbes commonly found in wetlands digest the waste & convert it into liquid fertilizer while releasing electrons to power the fuel cells.
The major attraction of such a system over traditional wastewater TREAT. plants is cost: Company estimates that it will be able to produce device for about $10,000 each. At this price the device may prove attractive in developing countries. The company is currently testing prototypes with a handful of small breweries in the USA.
Further down the line, the effluent could even be cleaned up, used as drinking water, or reused to make beer if local
water availability is an issue.

Company s "patented sulfur dioxide leach process" is highly efficient and could be used to extract a very high percentage of the "manganese in any given oxide ore" irrespective of that ore s grade. However, there are operational advantages, cost benefits and revenue gains to be achieved by decreasing the manganese ion recovery via the leach and allowing the unrecovered manganese units to report to the plant tailings.
Attaining these advantages is possible because the Company sulfur dioxide leach process effectively "preconditions" the tailings leaving the majority of the metal ions present in a form suitable for slow release into soil via organic leaching. The tailings from an EMD or EMM plant using our leaching process will contain various elements required for stimulating healthy plant growth, in ratios dependent largely on the composition of the feedstock ore. However, in all instances the tailings will be rich in manganese ions, an element that is particularly deficient in Australian and Indian soils in many areas used for agriculture, which is somewhat ironic given the amount of manganese mined in these two countries.
Thus the interplay of Company s "multi nutrient fertilizer (MNF) patent" and its manganese leach patent can be used to advantage of both new and existing manganese electrolytic plants that are or can be fed with manganese oxide ores. (NB: The technology could also be employed by an EMD or EMM plant that currently uses manganese carbonate ore, but could switch to a low cost oxide feed, with the carbonate ore redirected profitably into manganese alloy production for the steel industry.) In practice, many manganese electrolytic plants could switch to a low grade ore feed located much closer, which would cost far less to buy and ship to the plant.
The capital cost of replacing a roast circuit with a leach circuit and the provision of a new MNF circuit would be readily repaid out of increased revenues and lower costs. Plants undertaking such a retro-fitting would be effectively rejuvenated and could look forward to decades of additional life irrespective of the urbanization that inevitably intensifies around them. An additional bonus may also be possible where the old tailings dams can be reclaimed and the land reused or sold off.

Side airbags are mounted by the side of the seat (door side). They lessen impacts to the chest and abdomen by deploying instantaneously between the door trim and passenger during side impacts.
Conventional side airbags were structured of two separate airbags, but the new airbag has a three-bag structure for instantaneous deployment in high-speed crashes and efficient impact absorption. The internal pressure of each of the three bags is optimized for each vehicle model, so that these airbags can be used on a variety of models from large to small vehicles.

1. Flooding:
A floodable car body design is a prerequisite for using
the flooding method for cavity preservation. During
flooding, the heated flooding wax is pumped into the
cavities of the car body via nozzles. When the car body
is then lifted and tilted, the wax is distributed in the
cavities. The excessive flooding wax drips into a
collecting tank and can be reused.
2. Spraying:
Accessibility of the cavities from the outside through
appropriate openings is a prerequisite for spraying.
Robots equipped with the appropriate spraying tool
perform the spray process for cavity preservation. The
spraying tool is a nozzle head with various spray
nozzles. According to the respective opening for
accessing the cavity, the appropriate nozzle is used. For
the selection and individual design of the nozzle head,
we team up with competent partners, and integrate the
selected solution into the overall plant. The wax for
cavity preservation flows through circular pipelines and
stub lines from the storage tank of the Company material
supply system to the place.
Three Seamlessly Integrated Modules:
1. Highly-precise metering reduces wax consumption:
Company Subsidiary solution ensures that wax is
metered to within approximately ± 0.1 ml for discharge
volumes between 2-15 ml per cavity. This significantly
reduces the required shot volume, and cuts material,
cleaning, and disposal costs. Has the potential to save
up to 20 metric tons of wax a year compared to other
systems on the market with ± 2 ml metering precision.
2. Robot-based or manual APP.
Reduced overspill due to rapidly solidifying wax
The use of proven solvent-free waxes that rapi
dly solidify minimizes drip travel. This is achieved by
the targeted application of heat to the cavity, warming
it to 60° Celsius for one minute. The heat quickly
dissipates to unheated parts of the structure,
effectively cooling the cavity. When the wax has cooled
to 45° Celsius, it acquires a gel-like consistency,
preventing it from dripping and minimizing overspill.
3. Highly efficient and cost-effective infrared drying
Leveraging cost-efficient infrared dryers to target
specific areas of cavities and utilizing passive cooling
methods cuts electricity costs by up to 50 percent.
Furthermore, infrared dryers require up to 65 percent
less space compared with conventional convection drying
systems with active cooling. A versatile solution,
suitable for the underbody The formation of wax drops
during conventional processes limits the use of infrared
dryers for underbody tasks. Wax drops can easily damage
these dryers. The development of a highly heat-resistant,
infrared-permeable plastic foil, enables heaters to be
deployed in areas where they might be struck by wax
drops, such as the rocker panel and underbody. The foil
protects the infrared heater from soiling and, in
conjunction with fullyautomated cleaning, enables
continuous operation.

Conventional manual installation of sound damping pads has many benefits. Most notably, the bitumen used is inexpensive and easy to work with. However, increasing levels of automation have led some manufacturers to deploy much more complex systems for material supply and application – required, in particular, for liquid-applied damping. Process stability and flexible use
As sound damping pads are available in a variety of types and material compositions, they are tailored to customer-specific requirements. Our partner performs customization in its own laboratory, drawing on extensive experience of vibration damping materials. As the pads are manufactured with extremely precise dimensions and consistent thicknesses, production processes are very stable, and reproducibility is high. Moreover, the pads have an attractive look-and-feel. This is important in vans, where they are often visible.
Furthermore, bitumen pads do not release any water in the dryer, and do not absorb any water during the production process, or during actual usage of the vehicle. Therefore, they can be installed in almost any position within the vehicle. Moreover, the pads do not cause blemishing of the paint finish on the exterior of car doors, for example.
Low investment, outstanding cost-effectiveness
Capital expenditure can be cut by up to 25 percent as the majority of components are of proven standard design, and there is no need for a conventional material supply system. Co. Develops High-Voltage Cathode Material for Lithium Iron Phosphate Rechargeable Batteries
Enables production of low-cost, cobalt-free lithium rechargeable batteries
Kawasaki, Japan, May 29, 2017 Co. today announced that it has successfully developed a cathode material for lithium iron phosphate rechargeable batteries. This new material offers high voltage that could only be achieved by cobalt-based materials in the past. Currently, the rare metal cobalt is a component of cathodes in high capacity and high-voltage lithium rechargeable batteries for electric vehicles (EVs) and home storage batteries. As these devices become more popular, there are concerns regarding future shortages of cobalt used in rechargeable lithium-ion batteries. Significant cost increases are also expected, generating interest in abundant and cheap iron to replace cobalt as the constituent element in rechargeable batteries. However, iron could not offer voltage comparable to that of cobalt-based materials.
Now Co. has discovered a new factor that can improve the voltage of iron-based materials. Using a proprietary materials design technology as well as a technology that precisely controls the composition of raw materials and the formation process of materials, Co. has successfully synthesized lithium iron pyrophosphate (Li5.33Fe5.33(P2O7)4). This phosphate-based material has a voltage of 3.8 V, comparable to that of existing cobalt-based materials.
In the future, Co. will seek to improve the performance of cathodes using this newly developed iron-based material. By advancing the design of new crystal structures that can maintain a high voltage state for longer periods, Co. aims to develop cathode materials that offer high energy density comparable to cobalt-based materials. In this way, Co. will contribute to lowering the cost of lithium rechargeable batteries and the devices that use them.
Development Background
Currently, lithium-ion batteries are widely used as high-performance rechargeable batteries. However, there are concerns about insufficient supply and rising costs, as the batteries s cathode materials contain the rare metal cobalt, such as lithium cobalt oxide (LiCoO2). Large volumes of lithium-ion batteries will be required in the future for electric vehicles in order to achieve a low-carbon society that does not rely on fossil fuels and emit greenhouse gasses in the age of global warming. Consequently there has been a great deal of interest in developing materials that use iron, which is abundant on earth, as a constituent element in place of cobalt.
Issues
Previously, there was a problem with lithium-ion batteries using iron-based materials as they could not reach the energy density of those using cobalt-based materials. Energy density is expressed as a product of capacity density and voltage. Accordingly, iron-based materials with voltage of 2.8 V to 3.5 V could not compete with cobalt-based materials whose voltage ranged from 3.75 V to 4.1 V. It is known that the voltage of cathode materials can change depending on the arrangement of atoms in the crystal structure, which created issues in the development of new iron-based materials with high voltage.
About the Newly Developed Technology
Now, by analyzing the correlation between the crystal structure of iron-based materials and their electrochemical characteristics, Co. has discovered new factors in improving the voltage of iron-based materials. Using a proprietary materials design technology and a technology that precisely controls the composition of raw materials and the formation process of materials, the corporation has successfully synthesized lithium iron pyrophosphate (Li5.33Fe5.33(P2O7)4). This phosphate-based material has a voltage of 3.8 V, comparable to that of existing cobalt-based materials. Details of the newly developed technology are as follows:
1. Discovered new factors improving the voltage of iron-based materials
The voltage of cathode materials is significantly influenced by the coordination of elements such as iron and oxygen in the crystal. By analyzing the interrelationship between the crystal structure of a material and its electrochemical characteristics, Co. discovered new factors in improving the voltage of iron-based cathode materials. In fact, it was discovered that a distorted arrangement of oxygen atoms around iron atoms is one of critical factors for the high voltage.
2. Successfully developed iron-based materials with high voltage comparable to cobalt-based materials
Using a proprietary Co. technology that precisely controls the coordination of raw materials and the formation of the material, Co. succeeded in synthesizing lithium iron pyrophosphate (Li5.33Fe5.33(P2O7)4), a new iron phosphate-based material (Figure 1). Co. created a coin-shaped prototype battery (Figure 2) and based on the results of its electrochemical properties evaluation, it was confirmed that it could achieve a voltage of 3.8 V, comparable to that of existing cobalt-based materials. This material has an even higher voltage than previously developed iron phosphate-based materials, represented by lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) (Figure 3). The charge capacity of the prototype coin battery is about 105 mAh/g(1), which accounts for approximately 75% of the theoretical value of 139 mAh/g (Li5.33Fe5.33(P2O7)4), or the actual value of 137 mAh/g (LiCoO2). Through continued analysis, Co. plans to further improve such figures
Results
The newly-developed cathode material has not reached a voltage equal to existing cobalt-based materials in terms of energy density. Nonetheless, it has paved the way to increase the voltage of iron-based materials, resolving a roadblock in the research development. In addition, cobalt-based cathode materials are used in lithium-ion batteries for electric vehicles as well as devices such as smartphones and digital cameras. If a cathode material is developed with the same energy density as cobalt-based materials, this will enable the stable production of cathode materials by replacing the rare metal cobalt with abundant iron. Moreover, this is expected to contribute to the stable production of lithium-ion batteries and the devices which use them, such as electric vehicles.
Future Plans
Based on this cathode development, Co. will work to design a crystal structure that can maintain a voltage on par with cobalt-based materials for longer periods. The electrode can also be used as a low-cost cathode material in safe, solid-state rechargeable batteries. Co. will contribute to a more sustainable and comfortable society by developing next-generation high-energy-density rechargeable batteries that are safer, cheaper and environmentally friendly.

Steering Wheel Vibrates to Alert Driver
With the aim of increasing automobile safety, Company has developed a steering wheel with a warning function that can alert drivers by vibrating the steering wheel itself. A "vibration unit" with a small motor is built into the steering wheel to directly warn the driver when it is sensed that the vehicle is drifting out of its lane unintentionally. The motor rotates an off-center weight, causing the grip portion of the steering wheel to vibrate to support safer driving.
A key feature of this system is its quiet performance, which is at the top level in the field. In-house tests confirmed that the vibration sound was about half that of similar products on the market while the vibration intensity of the warning was maintained. This quiet performance is achieved with an original method to solidly connect the vibration unit with the metal core of the steering wheel.
This steering wheel warning system is used on the Toyota Motor Lexus RX to be launched on Wednesday, October 22. The system will be on display for visitors to experience in the Co. booth at the Tokyo Motor Show starting on October 28 at Tokyo Big Sight in Tokyo.

The S-35710M is a 2-in-1*2 timer product with an IC and Quartz Crystal built into a single package reducing the number of external components and producing an accurately matched Oscillator and Crystal.
The S-35710M is suitable for time management during system sleep periods*3 after engine shut-down. The alarm time can be programmed in one-second increments from one second to 194 days. Using this timer with its ultra-low current consumption of only 250nA typical, reduces the system standby current.
Influenced by fuel evaporative emission regulations, including EURO 6*4 (Europe), demand for periodic status management during engine shut-down is critical. In addition, blank detection capability is required for electric vehicles to monitor the status of the battery when it is not in use or while charging.

Conventional glass runs have a square U shape that holds the edge of the window glass and forms a seal, creating a surface offset between the glass surface and center pillar. A method of texturing a wall or ceiling with non-acoustical joint compound by providing a collapsible bag having an opening at its top and is adapted to contain non-acoustical joint compound for forming a textured coating on the wall or ceiling and providing a spray nozzle having a low pressure input port, a joint compound suction port attached to the opening at the top of the collapsible bag, and an output port for spraying the non-acoustical joint compound. A low pressure stream of air from an air gun attached to the low pressure input port urges a small quantity of the non-acoustical joint compound to be sprayed out of the spray nozzle when the bottom of the collapsible disposable bag is raised above its top to either allow or force the joint compound to flow into the suction port and into the interior of the spray nozzle.

Tissues that are highly vascularized and viable, such as active tumor tissue, are able to efficiently clear contrast agent within an hour of contrast injection. Conversely, regions consisting of damaged blood vessels, for example areas of necrosis, are unable to clear contrast agent as quickly, resulting in contrast accumulation. Based on this phenomenon, the software works by acquiring two MRI scans—one at 5 minutes and another at least one hour after injection of a standard dose of contrast agent—and intelligently subtracting the first series from the second to clearly show the difference between contrast clearance and accumulation.

next generation sequencing based in vitro diagnostic device for detection of substitutions, insertion and deletion alterations (indels), and copy number alterations (CNAs) in 324 genes and select gene rearrangements, as well as genomic signatures including microsatellite instability (MSI) and tumor mutational burden (TMB) using DNA isolated from formalin-fixed paraffin embedded (FFPE) tumor tissue specimens.
The test assesses all classes of genomic alterations in "324 genes" known to drive cancer growth, providing potentially actionable information to help guide treatment decisions. It is also indicated as a companion diagnostic for patients with certain types of "non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), melanoma, colorectal cancer, ovarian cancer or breast cancer" to identify those patients who may benefit from treatment with one of 17 on-label targeted therapies, including 12 therapies currently approved as first-line therapy for their respective indications.
