An IMPROVED method for mfg phenolic rosin resin compn Reacting in a condensation reaction: - Rosin (30-95%) - Phenol (1-40%) - Aldehyde (1-25%) at 80-180C for time sufficient to produce a phenol-rosin condensate, wherein the IMPROVEMENT comprises the addition of 2-50% by wt of the reactants of a crosslinkable compd yo the condensation reaction & wherein said crosslinkable compd functions as a solvent during the condensation reaction & is a member selected from group: polyols, polyamines, ethanolamines Reacting in an esterification reaction - Phenol-rosin condensate (85-99%) - Said crosslinkable compd (1-15%) at 190-290C for time sufficient to produce title resin having acid number < 35 |
