Process for prepg Zn pyrithione-contg personal care compn which comprises in-situ prepd Zn pyrithione, comprising the step of reacting, in a personal care compn comprising at least one surfactant & having a high visc. rel. to Zn pyrithione in water alone, pyrithione acid or salt other than Zn pyrithione with Zn compd that is soluble in the personal care compn, said Zn compd being selected from: Zn salts of organic acids, Zn salts of inorg. acids, Zn hydroxide, ZnO, thereby causing in-situ transchelation of the pyrithione acid or salt with the Zn salt to form said Zn pyrithione-contg personal care compn, wherein said in-situ prepd Zn pyrithione is stable against settling in said personal care compn
