Iron sulfide comprising - FeS2 (85-100%) - (Fe)1-xS (< 5%); x = 0-0.2 - Fe3O4 (< 5%) - FeSO4 (< 10%) Wherein said iron sulfide comprise primary & sec. particle Wherein said primary particles have diam. 10-400 nm Wherein said sec. particles have a 50% vol. cumulative particle diam. ranging 20-300 micro.m Wherein said Fe sulfide was formed by process comprising - Introducing an Fe sulfate comprising FeSO4.H2O & at least a stoichiometric amount of S compd into the fluidized bed of furnace - Fluidizing burning & reacting the ingredients at 350-630C at superficial velocity > 0.1 m/sec, & at pressure > 1 atm, wherein air is used as a fluidizing gas for supplying heat necessary for maintaining the reaction T by S combustion Wherein said FeSO4.H2O has 50% vol. cumulative particle diam. 20-300 micro.m Wherein said S compd is chosen from elemental S in a powder, melt & vapor state & H sulfide |
