AVECIA plans to create "a center of excellence for peptide pharmaceuticals in North America". As part of its plan, it will build peptide development facilities at its Boston BioSys tems site in Bedford, Mass., acquired when Avecia acquired Boston BioSystems last year for $6 million. An initial investment of $500,000 over next 2-3 months, will focus on lab. modifications, peptide synthesis equipment, & recruitment of key scientific personnel. Further investment will upgrade the facilities to full current good mfg practices status, with the upgrade to be completed later this year |
