Vulcan exits specialties Vulcan Materials has completed the sale of its industrial water treatment and pulp and paper businesses to Kemira for about $44 million. The firm earlier sold plants in Smyrna and Dalton, Ga., to Lynx Chemical Group. Together, the sales take Vulcan out of the specialty chemicals business. Vulcan still makes basic chemicals such as chlorine, caustic soda, and chlorinated solvents. According to a spokesman, Vulcan will continue to evaluate its options for this business, as it does for all its businesses |
