USES DAYLIGHT SYSTEMS:

Aluminium Strip for Daylight-Systems

Office light and daylight glare free
Mechanical Properties

Technical Information

Daylight is especially important as it stimulates our healthy living as well as our ability to concentrate and increases productivity at work.
Therefore it is important to include daylight even in rooms where glare- and sunprotection are required.
It is a major advantage when people working in internal offices can keep a link with the outside world, time, weather etc..

Furthermore such daylight-systems fit in with the requirements of visual display-workstations acc. to EU-Norm 89/270.
In Europe, all work stations have from now on to correspond to this prescription for visual display.

Co. Aluminium strip for daylight-systems meets the following requirements:
Daylight is directed onto the ceiling and into the room. During summertime the heat of the sun is deflected outside which gives a passive cooling-effect and the heat transmission to the inner rooms is reduced to a minimum. At the same time a good and diffuse daylight-illumination is assured.

During winter the flat shining sun heats the inner rooms. The workstation remains shaded and free from glare.

This light-guiding system allows a good light transmission from the outside to the inside and, due to the part perforation, the connection to the outside is maintained even with fully closed slats. Also the sun-light reflection system will not cause glare to either traffic, pedestrians or the buildings in the area.

Along with pre-anodised and enhanced reflectivity RTM aluminium-strips, maximum efficiency solutions can be offered. The strips are grey lacquered on the reverse and additionally perforated. Additionally the top surface is protected by a clear lacquer.

The lacquer considerbly increases the corrosion-resistance and fullfills all requirements for outdoor-applications, as well as all needs with regard to weather-proofing and abrasion-resistance.

The material has been submitted to extended tests of adhesive strength, elongation and climatic durability (salt spray test and UV-influence processes).

Total-reflection of the anodised and clear-lacquered surfaces is 87%, with the RTM surfaces, a value of 95% is reached (acc. to DIN 5036).

The aluminium strip can be supplied as slit coil in many widths as required and, upon request, also partly perforated. Usual widths are 25, 50, 80 and 89,9 mm.

The material is generally available in different hardnesses and gauges between 0,3 and 0,6 mm. Exact information relating to the materials properties and available perforation examples are listed below. For manufacture, please consider that the material gauge, due to the lacquer on both sides and to the protective film on the top side, is increased by approx. 70-80 µm.

DECORATIVE (CONSTRUCTION)
ILLUMINATION; LIGHTINGRTM:
the aluminium of the future, is a product of intensive research and development. RTM is a unique quality, because since its introduction, it is the first time that a 95 percent (DIN 5036) reflective optically coated surface has been available in mass production. RTM has a total absence of iridescent colours . At the same time, diffuse reflection can be reduced to minimum values. This results in an enormous efficiency improvement from the previous best of standard anodised materials with total reflection of 87 percent maximum (DIN 5036). RTM material can be used with the latest lamp technology of T5 tubes. Surfaces for the Lighting Industry
For more than 25 years Co. has supplied reflector material to the lighting industry.
In this time Co. has tried to offer an appropriate reflector material for all new developments in this branch.
The most recent light source innovation is the introduction of the T5 fluorescent tube in the general fluorecent market.

T5 and RTM

The T5 (16 mm) fluorescent tube opens new perspectives in the development of primary- and secondary lighting. These new tubes allow the design of slim fixtures with shallow plenum depth. The high luminous intensity together with the lack of fixture and shielding depth needs a precise and accurate reflector surface.
This means that incident light must be precisely reflected with no scattered light from unwanted diffuse reflection ruining cut-off and shielding.
With RTM technology, the total reflection (DIN 5036-3) of reflector material is increased by 10 percent from 87percent up to 95 percent. The diffuse component of reflected light from a specular surface is drastically reduced and iridescence is totally eliminated.
Reflectors made from a 95 percent reflective material can be up to 15 percent more efficient.
A more effecient fixture means wider fixture spacing with better uniformity factors and results in the use of less energy while providing the environment with high lighting levels..
