Octane Additives Co. is the world’s leading producer of tetraethyl lead (TEL). This product is also used in automotive gasoline for vehicles running on leaded fuel, which do not have catalytic converters. As a responsible organisation, Co. recognises the importance to the environment of reducing lead in automotive fuel and we support the global phase-out programme for TEL. At the same time we recognise that the economies of some countries continue to depend on this product. We are committed to helping these countries make the transition to unleaded fuel by ensuring the continuity of TEL supply during their phase-out period. Through Co. Environmental, we are also helping to manage the clean up of redundant plants as refineries make the necessary change. |
