Company is at the forefront of research into biosynthetic routes to polymers. This is a novel and patented technology for producing polyesters and polyurethanes using the catalytic power of lipase enzymes.
The unique processes are operated at lower temperatures than those required for conventional polymerisation reactions, resulting in a more energy efficient synthesis. In addition, the polyester process does not require the use of organotin or other organometallic catalysts and the polyurethane process avoids the use of diisocyanates by using alternative starting materials.
The polymers formed by this novel process have highly regular structures providing unique properties and can be used in coating and adhesive applications.
